Mark Richey Woodworking removed its wind turbine at the start of business Thursday morning, Nov. 20,2025. It had been in place since 2009.
The turbine was no longer operational despite considerable efforts to source replacement parts to keep the turbine running.
The company refrained from announcing the landmark change in advance due to safety concerns over spectators wanting to visit during its removal. The wind turbine was 292 feet tall and sat at the end of parking lot filled with active businesses.
Mark Richey Woodworking remains committed to environmental stewardship and renewable energy and plans to replace the power generated by the turbine with additional solar power as it continues to strive to be a net zero company
“We’re truly sad that to see the turbine come down as it has been part of our company and the community for a long time. It has generated tremendous clean power, and countless local schoolchildren have visited the turbine and learned about green energy,” said company President Mark Richey.
The turbine was primarily metal and will be recycled. The electrical infrastructure will be repurposed for a planned parking lot solar canopy.
