Mark Richey Woodworking hosted more than 100 colleagues and friends on Monday evening, May 19 for a factory tour and fundraiser for a cause that was no doubt new to most.
The Cure Blindness Project is a global non-profit organization based in Vermont that works in the poorest countries across the world to provide otherwise unavailable cataract surgeries to reverse blindness.
Organization cofounder Dr. Geoff Tabin is a friend of Mark Richey Woodworking owners Mark and Teresa Richey. The Richeys have traveled with Dr. Tabin to volunteer and regularly contribute to this remarkable cause.
When they learned that the Cure Blindness Project was facing financial challenges due to a changing political landscape, the Richeys collaborated with the Cure Blindness Project to organize a fundraiser in hopes of collecting $100,000 to be matched by Mark and Teresa Richey to support the cause.
Many stepped up in big way by attending a factory tour, reception and educational event at Mark Richey Woodworking’s facility in Massachusetts and by donating.
The event exceeded fundraising goals, and the Cure Blindness Project’s remarkable work will advance thanks to supporters’ help.
