Mark Richey Woodworking contracted with Structure Tone to help bring to life architect BDG's colorful vision for the LEGO Group's new U.S. headquarters in Boston, Mass., opened in May 2025 after more than 50 years in Enfield, Conn.
The six-floor space located in a newly-constructed 20-story tower in Boston's Back Bay provides room for more than 800 employees and includes collaborative spaces throughout. Mark Richey's work is featured on every floor, including in reception, pantries, barista bar, parent and wellness spaces, and more. This work includes a reception desk, integrated planters, banquettes and benches, bars and cabinetry, walls, trim and surrounds.
Materials include solid surfacing, laminates, fabric and paint in bright colors, and random match plain sliced white oak veneer and solid wood. The reception desk is speckled solid surfacing, including the routed company logo. Feature walls at elevators banks are foam with glossy urethane and mounts set in circular cutouts for employees to add a LEGO®MinifigureTM of their likeness. Stairways are solid wood cut in semi-circular shapes to mirror giant tambour and finished on site in bright hues by floor.
The colorful design represents the LEGO Group's mission to "inspire and develop builders of tomorrow" and marks continued investment in the U.S.
